From June 20, after the primary election

Friends:

The primary election is now over, and the results are in. If there was any doubt, those doubts are now put to rest as we won the primary with a landslide victory of 71% of the vote! You have sent a clear message, and that message is that we will now get serious and unseat Duncan D. Hunter!

I am extremely encouraged by the sizeable number of new names and faces that have stepped forward to help with the campaign. Thank you in advance for all your volunteer time and effort. Without you, this campaign would be absolutely impossible as I do not accept corporate funds for my campaign at all, including any money from the military industrial complex, unlike my opponent who receives the vast majority of his contributions from OUTSIDE the district. He answers to WALL STREET, not MAIN STREET.

If you are not already aware we have a new CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS, at 165 E. Main St. Suite B, El Cajon, 92020. Oh, that's right, we are on MAIN STREET.

Experts may say that the race is impossible to win, that the "Hunter" name has been around for 30 years, and there is no chance to change it.

Those experts don't realize that I'm the guy who worked with the community of Potrero to kick out Blackwater, the multi-billion dollar mercenary army firm that wanted to set up an 824-acre training facility in that small community... I'm the guy who first outed the undercover Otay Mesa Blackwater development, and went on with a team of activists to stop Blackwater's agreement with Southwestern College and their unlimited use of on-campus conference rooms, perhaps for mercenary recruiting. I'm the guy who started Citizens' Oversight Projects -- COPs to help citizens continue to keep track of out-of-control local governmental bodies.

I'm not afraid of working against Blackwater, and I'm not afraid of working to give Duncan D. Hunter (i.e. "Junior") the boot. Junior essentially inherited the seat from his father. They have the same name, except for the middle initial. Most people didn't know they were voting for the son, a disgusting play by local Republicans to hold the seat. This is not a man who got to his seat by kicking and scratching his way to the top. It was given to him by sleight of hand. But the gig is up; people are now realizing that the son is not his father, and that is clear.

It's time to give incumbents the boot. It's time that we had a name other than "Hunter" as our representative.

We are, at the present time, at worldwide peak of oil production. In the next few years, the amount of oil that can be produced will decline, while at the same time demand continues to increase. The developing countries of India and China, for example, will increase their demand by 15% per year. The result is that we will face a dramatic change in the energy landscape, from cheap plentiful (and basically free) energy to somewhat costly energy. Gas at $3 per gallon is nothing. Even Starbucks coffee costs over $50 a gallon, and it won't move your car an inch.

Instead of ignoring this upcoming challenge, we must rise and meet the challenge. The difference is being caught off guard or being ready for these severe changes. To meet the challenge, Ray proposes a Green Manhattan Project, building and staffing 500 solar panel factories around the country (including here in the 52nd district) to produce solar panels for use on homes and businesses and to create new jobs to boot. It's time to require that we add U.S. jobs, and not just jobs in India or China as we move to solve our energy challenges.

Never has the need for change at this level been so urgent. As we struggle in Iraq and trade words with Iran, we must realize that the core problem we must face is our addiction to oil. We must make conservation central to our strategy and recreate our communities to reduce our climate change footprint and reduce or eliminate our dependence on foreign oil supplies. No longer is this just a matter of dollars and cents. This is a national security issue, and true patriots will take up the challenge.

I welcome your support and would be honored by your vote.

Warmest Regards,

Raymond Lutz

Friends:

The Lutz for Congress campaign is picking up plenty of steam! You may already start seeing "He works for US... Ray Lutz - U.S. Congress" around the district. We've put together a pretty good team of volunteers who are helping to craft the campaign. Now, we also have a new CAMPAIGN HEADQUARTERS, at 165 E. Main St. Suite B, El Cajon, 92020. We are on MAIN STREET, not WALL STREET.

Experts may say that the race is impossible to win, that the "Hunter" name has been around for 30 years, and there is no chance to change it.

They have the same name, except for the middle initial. Until the other day, the resume in the League of Women Voter's "Vote Smart" web site was that of Duncan L. Hunter, the father, a convenient mistake by Junior to fool the voter. Most people didn't know they were voting for the son, a disgusting play by local Republicans to hold the seat. This is not a man who got to his seat by kicking and scratching his way to the top. It was given to him by sleight of hand. PLEASE NOTE: The resume for my opponent, Duncan D. Hunter, on the VoteSmart.org website has been that of Duncan L. Hunter (the father) FOR YEARS! We have asked them to make this correction but are still waiting. Don't let them fool you, this is not the experienced Bush-era legislator but the "baby-Duncan" son who only won his seat due to this name confusion! They could have fixed this years ago, but the Hunter campaign would not survive without this name confusion that borders on outright cheating.

Friends:

Wow! The Draft Ray Lutz campaign, only open for a couple of weeks has resulted in a landslide of support from the community, even while being hard-pressed by the economic meltdown. I feel like George Bailey, surrounded by friends and neighbors as they try to cover the lost check at the bank. One fellow said he was completely strapped but was able to pledge $2.17 -- like the woman asking for money at the Bailey Savings and Loan, and willing to accept just a couple of dollars to get her through the week. Tears come to my eyes, and I thank you very kindly for your support.

I was reluctant to run at first, but obviously, I now have no choice. I must respond to this upwelling of support! You've got a candidate now!

This grassroots support is in stark contrast to my ultimate opponent, Duncan Hunter Junior, a man who inherited his seat through name confusion (his father was Duncan L. Hunter, and held the seat for 28 years), and who has a long list of favors to repay, continuing from the first 28 years of the Hunter regime. There is no question that Hunter will have a well-funded campaign, but today, the voter is sophisticated enough to see through the glitz and realize that Hunter will continue in the wrong direction. More than ever, we obviously need to shed the "good ol' boys" Hunter legacy.

We are, at the present time, at worldwide peak of oil production. In the next few years, the amount of oil that can be produced will decline, while at the same time demand increases. The developing countries of India and China, for example, will increase their demand by 15% per year. The result is that we will face a dramatic change in the energy landscape, from cheap plentiful (and basically free) energy to somewhat costly energy.

Instead of ignoring this future challenge, if we rise to the occasion and meet the challenge, we can benefit as a result. Ray is proposing a Green Manhattan Project, placing solar panel factories around the country, including here in the 52nd district, to produce solar panels for use on homes and businesses and to create new jobs to boot. It's time to require that we add US jobs, and not just jobs in India or China as we move to solve our energy challenges.

The 52nd Congressional District district is the largest geographical district in San Diego County and includes about 425,000 residents. The main cities are La Mesa, El Cajon, Santee, Lakeside, Ramona, Alpine, Jamul, Dulzura, Potrero, Campo, Borrego Springs, and a portion of Tierrasanta, Miramar and University City.

I welcome your support and would be honored by your vote.

Warmest Regards,

Raymond Lutz
