Now is the time for change
We are in the midst of an emergency, the likes of which I have never witnessed in my lifetime. With the recent Supreme Court decision regarding corporate contributions to directly advocate for or against a candidate, corporations now have the option of directly affecting any election they wish to spend money on. One well-heeled corporation -- like Enron -- could easily promote the candidates that will line their pockets, and then do it again, and again. In no time, this will be the country by the corporations, for the corporations, and of the corporations, even more than is the case today. We must turn the clock back on this decision. We can't wait, now is the time.
At the same time, we have a pending emergency that has been predicted for years. We are basically at peak oil production at this time in history. That means we are producing the maximum amount of oil that will ever be produced. From here on out, oil will be more expensive and more rare, even if we don't increase demand. But demand is going up and very rapidly at that. The developing economies of China and India are starting to use automobiles and other equipment. China along increased their demand by nearly 15% last year. It is a simple fact that if you can't produce any more, and if you increase demand, the price will go up -- way up.
Therefore, I am promoting a vision for 500 new solar-panel production facilities across the country, so we can produce new solar panels here the United States and then place these en masse across the country on virtually every home and business. This is like declaring war on this problem, but it is a war of building instead of one of destruction. We have to get serious, and so far, with oil executives running the country, the only action has been lip service. The free market is not proactive. We must use our government to move us in the right direction. We must take up the challenge and create a future based on renewable energy and resources. Now is the time.
I entered politics after being frustrated by the destruction of FEMA and the disaster of the response to Katrina, as well as the disgusting stories of torture in a war that probably never should have been waged. I want all the evidence of the events of 9/11 to be placed in the public domain -- no more secrets. I want the Congress to have the right to audit the Federal Reserve, and to perform that audit immediately. I support legislation to break up any company that is considered "too large to fail" and regulate the derivatives markets. We must put a stop to dirty earmarks, such as those endorsed by my opponent, earmarks that send federal dollars to his own uncle's firm. He may say that he does not have any direct interest in the firm, but the average citizen doesn't have a hard time understanding that this is certainly improper and downright disgusting. Now is the time for change.
I spent years fighting the expansion of mercenary army firms like Blackwater, especially in the small community of Potrero, Otay Mesa, Nomirage, and in Riverside County. The only real solution to this problem is to pull the funding from these firms. I support the "Stop Outsourcing Security Act" to eliminate these "private military contractors" who are authorized to use lethal force in conflict zones.
Join me in moving toward sanity and away from favors, dirty earmarks, cronyism, and a son inheriting his father's seat through name confusion. Now is the time.
